Cadillac Key Fob Replacement and Programming in PGA Village

Replaced and programmed a Cadillac smart key fob on-site in a PGA Village driveway — no dealer, no tow.

Cadillac smart key fob programmed in a PGA Village driveway by St Lucie Lock and Key.

A PGA Village homeowner called about a Cadillac whose remote had stopped locking, unlocking and starting the car. The buttons still had voltage, but the vehicle no longer responded — a symptom that points to a de-authenticated or physically failing fob, not a dead battery. We arrived with the correct blade blank and a fresh OEM-equivalent proximity fob for that model year.

Modern Cadillac smart keys are more than remotes. Each one carries an encrypted rolling code that the vehicle's body control module recognizes as authorized. When a fob is replaced, the vehicle has to be told to trust the new one and — in many cases — the old fob has to be de-authorized in the same session, so a lost fob cannot be used to steal the car later.

In the driveway, we connected to the vehicle's OBD-II port with a manufacturer-capable programmer, entered the security session for the platform, and paired the new fob to the vehicle. Push-to-start was tested, remote lock and unlock verified, panic and trunk buttons confirmed, and the passive-entry range checked from three sides of the vehicle.

Because the homeowner still had one working fob, we did a two-fob session — new fob added, old fob retained as a spare. On all-keys-lost jobs the process is longer (the vehicle typically has to go through a security time-out first), but response and pricing are still far below what a dealer tow-and-program job would run.

For a PGA Village address, dealer trips mean an hour each way, plus tow costs if the vehicle is not driveable. Mobile automotive locksmith work removes that entire chain — we come to the driveway, we do the whole job in the driveway, and the customer keeps their day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions our Port St. Lucie customers ask most.

Do you need my Cadillac at a dealer to program the fob?
No. We program most Cadillac smart keys on-site via the vehicle's OBD-II port with dealer-level programming equipment.
Can you make a Cadillac key without the original?
Yes. All-keys-lost programming is a longer session because the vehicle has to complete a security time-out, but it is fully doable on-site.
Is the replacement fob real Cadillac or aftermarket?
We stock both OEM and OEM-equivalent shells. Both program identically; the customer picks based on price and cosmetic preference.
